Reinterpretation of Names in Bamsi Beyrek Boyu According to N. Hartmann's Ontology
Dede Korkut Stories, the common value of Turkishness, always most notably of Turkish literature, is a source in areas such as mythology, history, sociology and culture. The richness of its content has enabled many scientific researches. There are thousands of valuable works revealing its various aspects. An example of telling much using few words-laconic, Dede Korkut Stories have a structure that compensates for the need of intensive expression of the oral period. This structure is similar to the categories of being in the new ontology of Hartmann in terms of the formation from layers. Because the only being that incorporates into all the layers of being is the human. Therefore, it is seen that these layers are generally found in every product of human creation. The emphasis on the tradition of name giving to people in Oğuznames of Dede Korkut indicate that names were not randomly selected. In this study, some of the names of Bamsı Beyrek Boy were examined in terms of ontological layers. It was observed that the names of the studied persons have a stratified structure as semantic and gained a new meaning with a new layer in each different context.
